Democracy must be learned by each generation.YMCA Youth and Government™ in Oregon is a civic engagement program empowering high school students to participate in government. Part of a nationwide initiative, Oregon's program offers model government simulations, hands-on leadership experience, and advocacy and service-learning activities to foster civic responsibility. Tillamook High School has participated in Oregon Youth & Government since 2021. Each year, students of THS write measures to help make Oregon a better place. Around February each year, students from around the state attend a statewide Legislative Conference in Salem to share their ideas and participate in a mock legislature.
